"Midway, Utah"

Ever since we arrived in Utah, the rabbitbrush were in full bloom, adding a shock of bright yellow to the foreground of many scenes that caught my eye. Today, I wanted to paint Rubber Rabbitbrush. I set up my easel just before dawn, and by the time I got my paints ready, there was a spectacular sunrise appearing.
Since I usually start my paintings with the sky, this was perfect timing, and although I had not planned to paint a sunrise, it was too good of a challenge to pass up. By the time I was painting the far mountains, the sky had already lost it's magic colors.
The morning was going along great until the dark clouds began to build and the temperature dropped quickly.
Then the rain came, but luckily I was pretty much finished and packed up quickly.
Seat warmers were an included option in our rental car, something I had never used before, but found to be very much appreciated!
